Welcome to the Department of English of the Khulna Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah University (KKBAU) !!

It is my pleasure to inform you that KKBAU is named in honour of Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah (R), a renowned educationists of undivided Bengal and Assam, a reformer and sufi locally known as Pir of Nalta at Satkhira and was established in 2018 by the Dhaka Ahsania Mission with opening the Department of English to train the young generations of southern region of Bangladesh in English language. Since English is the global language of communication, and has become a major requirement in the job market, so all students should improve their oral and written communication skill in English in order to be able to compete in the highly competitive job in this country and beyond.

To accomplish this, the department continues to maintain its standard of excellence and all the four pillars of language learning such as listening, speaking, reading and writing are integrated in the course delivery to ensure a balanced development of language skills of the students. They are encouraged to communicate only in English while on campus. The department offers a variety of course that give students the opportunity to develop their intellectual inquisitiveness, analytical skills, critical thinking, and expand their prospects as well through broad and intensive reading.

The department strives to identify and enhance students’ creative talents through personal guidance and research activities along with discussion sessions, debates, seminars and presentations are arranged as part of the English society activities to give the students a platform to express their ideas and present their talents and skills. For these, the students of the English program are taught by well-known and experienced faculty members who are involved in English language and literature research activities.

Currently, the department is offering Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English program, a 4-year undergraduate program spreading over eight semesters with two semesters   per academic year, within an affordable tuition fee. We strongly believe, after completing this program, our graduate will be able to face the challenges and secure a respectable place in job market as well as the larger sphere of community.
