Message From the Head
It is my pleasure to inform that Khulna Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah University (KKBAU) started its journey in 2018 with launching a program of Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Information Science and Library Management to create skill and competent information professionals who will devote themselves in the socio-economic development in home and abroad. It is a multidisciplinary program where students are taught courses of Information Science, Knowledge Management, Information and Communication Technology, Data Science along with core courses of Library Management so that the graduates of this program can serve and fit in with this information based society. This program also educates Computer Hardware and Software, Automation and Digitization of Information Institutions, Database Design and Applications, Internet Studies and Web Design etc. to enhance IT knowledge of the students and to adapt them with the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) in the 21st century. In this regard, the Department of Information Science and Library Management is devoted to enhance information management knowledge in a socially responsible and sustainable way through using its local and international exposure and prominent faculty members.
Graduates of this program are future-ready professionals capable in diverse information service and technology contexts. They are trained to design, manage and evaluate information systems and services that support people and society’s interactions with information through ICT, and they play a leading role in enabling people to create, use, store and communicate knowledge.
Information Science and Library Management graduates have many career opportunities at home and abroad as they are well-trained in information management, communication and dissemination. Nowadays, these graduates are essential to any country, both in the developed and in the developing world. They can be employed in libraries of all kinds, information centres, government offices, public and private education and training institutions, corporate research institutes, business firms, print and electronic media, NGOs, banks, foreign organizations, embassy and international organizations etc. Currently, there are huge numbers of post in schools, colleges and madrashas in Bangladesh are vacant where these graduates can be employed as lecturer, teacher, librarian, information officer and also in other positions.
